The report names AtTask as a leader in IDC's IP PPM SaaSsegment and  in the contender segment for IDC's enterprise ITPPM segment assessment.

“AtTask has successfully positioned its offerings, particularly its SaaS packaging, as an alternative to expensive, arcane, high-end complex shelfware,” said Melinda-Carol Ballou, Program Director, Application Life-Cycle Management & Executive Strategies at IDC. “We expect [AtTask] to broaden its appeal with the addition of more robust ITPPM features and processes moving into 2010/2011.” - IDC, Evolving a Portfolio Approach to ITPPM with AtTask, #221373, December 2009.

In the report, IDC points to ease of use, flexibility and cost savings as several of the key factors for determining their positioning of AtTask. IDC MarketScape: IT Project and Portfolio Management, 2010 Vendor Analysis: Four Views to Enable Effective Evaluation, Doc.#225802, Nov 2010.

  • AtTask “addresses the key issue of adoption and enables effective collaboration for project portfolio management with fundamental capabilities for many companies getting started and seeking communication for a broad swathe of users (technical and nontechnical)”
  • “Organizations seeking a quick on-ramp for general project management with basic project portfolio requirements can use AtTask for speed of adoption and implementation.”

“As the economic situation improves longer term, we also see demand for capabilities in this area to drive business agility in an expanding market,” continued Ballou. “The ability to provide management, focus, and coordination across software projects through to provisioning will drive further growth potential and business adaptability beyond the usual boundaries of traditional ITPPM.”
