Stream Unveiled at Annual User Conference

SALT LAKE CITY, UT – May 12, 2010 – AtTask Inc. (www.attask.com) a leading provider of on-demand SaaS project management solutions, announced today at its annual user conference that it is developing a new social project management platform. The platform, called Stream, combines the power of social networking with the structure of project management. Stream empowers teams, increasing their acceptance of, and participation in, the project management process. With Stream, front-line conversational information and commitments flow upward, enabling greater accuracy in projections and more well-informed decision making.

With the widespread adoption of social tools on the Internet, collaboration and communication are reaching a new level of saturation in the market. Current PPM solutions ignore this new work style reality, remaining steeped in rigid, outdated structures that don’t align with the way people want to work.

According to a commissioned study by Forrester Consulting on behalf of AtTask, capturing more qualitative information was seen by managers as the factor that would most improve knowledge worker time tracking. Nearly 70% of knowledge workers ranked the ability to comment on others’ projects and accomplishments, and having others comment on their own projects and accomplishments, as valuable social media functionalities that could be applied in the work environment. The study also reported that almost half of non-PPM users say that a driving factor for their adopting PPM would be software that made everyone’s work contributions transparent to peers and management.

“Stream harnesses to power of social tools and adds structure and management to bring new levels of connection, cooperation and confidence to the team work environment,” said Scott Johnson, president and CEO of AtTask. “This model invites greater participation by letting teams collaborate and share information not only related to the project but also related to their goals and accomplishments.”

The company’s new platform will attract team adoption by recognizing people for their contributions, providing people with more autonomy on how they deliver, and giving people richer and more accurate information along the way. This heightened participation will give executives better information to help them keep an accurate pulse on their businesses and make more proactive decisions.

“AtTask is taking project management from the 20th Century to the 21st Century,” said Robert Franklin, an independent project management consultant at CISCO WebEx. “Making the change from a command-and-control project management process to a connect-and-collaborate process will make project teams more effective.”

Stream provides:

• Greater individual ownership over priorities and commitments
• A central location for freeform conversations around assignments
• Recognition for individual accomplishments among team members
• Conversational status information to managers and executives that emphasizes current progress
• Decentralized, team-centric task assignment

AtTask will begin a limited beta release of Stream this summer and plans to have the product generally available in 2010. The product will be offered for free to AtTask customers whose subscriptions are current.
